TICKET TO HEAVEN

Someone was explaining how when he was a ‘young Christian’ he thought of Christ as the ticket to Heaven. Now, he realizes it is much more than that. He gave the example of a little girl, perhaps 4 or 5, coming home from school, seeing her father sitting on the couch reading. With a scream of delight, she ran across the room, slippers flying off her feet, bounding off the coffee table in front of her daddy, leaping onto his lap, then being smothered with affection. He talked for some time about this affection of the father, and while he was talking, thoughts raced through my mind about how Jesus is much more than the ticket. .

JESUS IS THE TICKET - No passage to heaven without the ticket of being washed in his blood.

JESUS IS THE PASSPORT - Cannot cross the border from earth to heaven, from darkness to light, without this passport!

JESUS IS THE TRAIN (or boat, or plane, or car, or whatever transportation you might envision for the journey. I think it is a roller coaster that does not return to where it started, but reaches another destination). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life!

JESUS IS THE JOURNEY Not only is he the transport, he is the sights, sounds, experiences along the way.

JESUS IS THE WELCOME PARTY When we arrive, there is a chorus of angels singing, and much celebration upon arrival.

JESUS IS THE ARRIVAL BANQUET - After arrival everyone gathers for the feast prepared by the King - it’s different than the welcome at the station, or port of entry.

JESUS IS THE CONTINUING EMBRACE OF THE FATHER . . . forever

Going Fishing John 21:1-14

Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you."
So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered.
He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!"
As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards.
When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead. (John 21:1-14)

EASTER SUNDAY TEXT

Isaiah 60:1-5 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. "Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.

Born Again

Being born again means that the Spirit of God has breathed life into your dead spirit through accepting Jesus Christ's death as payment to purchase you from the former owner, satan. The purpose of being Born Again of the Spirit of God is to replace the dominion where it belongs, under God with man as the manager in charge. This repositioning of submission and authority allow man to again have a personal relationship with God, as before "the fall." Without it, man cannot have this relationship, cannot "enter the kingdom of God."
